POLITICS, ECONOMY AND OTHER NEWS
• The military minister of defence will be invited at the ASEAN Defense Ministers’ Meeting (ADMM).
• A cold war between the Arakan Army (AA) and the Burmese military is currently underway. 10 people were recently arrested by the military regime in Ponnagyun, Arakan State, just a few days after the AA abducted Burmese soldiers in Kyauktaw Township. The Arakan Army is accusing the military regime of trying to increase its control in its region.
• According to Myanmar Now, more than 10,000 students in Demoso (Karenni State) is participating in interim schools organized by teachers who joined the civil disobedience movement against the military regime.
• Myanmar Now reports that a newborn died after regime authorities denied timely medical assistance to Cherry Bo Kyi Naing, a political prisoner who was being detained in Insein Prison, Yangon. Her husband, who was also arrested for opposing the military coup, has received a death sentence.
• During a press conference, Khin Maung Oo, a member of Union Elections Commission, said the next political elections will be held with a PR (Proportional representation) system. A PR system would surely benefit the military, which already retains 25% of the total seats, thanks to the 2008 constitution, which grants the generals a de-facto veto right on any constitutional change.
• A special court at Obo Prison in Mandalay sentenced Dr. Zaw Myint Maung, the ousted chief minister of Mandalay Region, to another 21 years behind bars on Friday. (Source: Myanmar Niw)
• King Maha Vajiralongkorn Phra Vajiraklaochayuhua, King of Thailand receives the military junta appointed U Chit Swe as new ambassador to the Kingdom of Thailand.

CHIN STATE
• Mindat: 3 civilians were killed last week in Muitui village, by artillery shelling fired by the Burmese military

SAGAING
• Chaung U: 5 civilians have been burned to death during a raid by regime soldiers in Nyaung Pin Tae
• Yinmarpin: a military convoy has been repeatedly attacked by Resistance fighters. Around 50 soldiers were reportedly killed
• Monywa: Than Zaw Thun, a district level military-backed administrator, was shot dead inside his car enroute to Monywa, the region’s capital city, on the morning of June 19.
• Katha: a 30-year-old woman was killed by artillery shelling in Palwe Shwe village

KACHIN STATE
• Hpakant: a woman died after heavy artillery shelling by the military junta on the road to Myitkyina
• Hpakant: 3 men were found dead this morning between Hmawsisa village and Lone Khin village

SHAN STATE
• Kutkai: woman and her 28-year-old daughter were killed by an artillery shelling in Zup Awng’s refugee camp
• Mong Ton: 7 civilians, including an NLD member and his daughter, were arrested by the Burmese military

MAGWAY
• Pauk: clashes continue between Resistance fighters and regime troops

ARAKAN (RAKHINE) STATE
• DMG media: a rice distribution programme funded by Japan’s Nippon Foundation, and targeting internally displaced people (IDPs) in Arakan State’s Ann Township, has been suspended due to lack of permission from the township Disaster Management Department and the General Administration Department.
• DMG media: The Arakan Army (AA) does not intend to object to the Kaladan Multi-Modal Transit Transport Project being implemented by the Myanmar and Indian governments if it will benefit the Arakanese people.
• Twan Mrat Naing, the Commander-In-Chief of the Arakan Army, has confirmed two Arakanese teachers are currently held kidnapped by ARSA near a border with Bangladesh. (Chindwin News)

YANGON
• More than 40 anti-coup young activists have been arrested by the military last week

TANINTHARYI
• Yebyu township: DVB reports that local administrators are trying to force striking government workers who joined the civil disobedience movement, to return to work. Due to the mass adhesion to the CDM, there is a shortage of teachers in public schools.

BANGLADESH
• Cox’s Bazar: thousands of Rohingya refugees organized a protest, demanding a safe repatriation in Myanmar. Over 700,000 Rohingya have been forced to flee due to extreme violence perpetrated by the Burmese military. Thousands have been reportedly killed in what is considered by many a clear genocidal operation.
