POLITICS, ECONOMY AND OTHER NEWS
• Fuel shortages caused panic among Burmese citizens. Long queues were seen at gas stations. Shortages are probably caused by the military’s order to Burmese businesses, to exchange all profits in US dollars into Myanmar kyats. Gas stations are rationing fuel. Military spokesperson Zaw Min Tun blames the media for causing unnecessary panic.
• DVB reports that “The winner of a decorated horse cart competition held by the military over Thingyan has been ordered to return their winnings to the show’s organizer”. “It has been said that the prize money was just for show because the event was aired on television,”
• The U.S. ambassador to the United Nations met with the Burmese National Unity Government’s representatives Aung Myo Min and Moe Zaw Oo to discuss how to support Myanmar in its journey to democracy
• Saw Moe Win, a former Tatmadaw major and manager of the Global Treasure Bank in South Dagon township, was shot dead by unidentified gunmen on the morning of April 18th (Source: DVB)

CHIN STATE
• Falam: the lifeless bodies of two Resistance fighters have been found near a cemetery in Rikhordah. They were abducted by the military on March 26th

SAGAING
• Depayin: regime troops raided Mae Oo village, burning several houses
• Internet connection was restored in Khamti and Homalin townships. Dozens of other townships reman cut off since the start of March.

SHAN STATE
• Lwa Sin: regime troops burned civilian houses

KARENNI (KAYAH) STATE
• Loikaw: regime troops destroyed3 homes and a religious building

KAREN (KAYIN) STATE
• The Karen National Union (KNU) reports more than 200 clashes with the Burmese Army in the first half of April. 6 civilians have been killed by regime troops.
• Wa Bo Taw junction: Resistance fighters attacked a military outpost killing 6 policemen

MAGWAY
• Myaing: 7 Resistance fighters have been captured and killed by regime troops in Taegyi village
• Gangaw: San Win (67) was executed with his hands tied behind the back, by regime soldiers in a cemetery in Hnan Khar Village
• Pauk: more than 60 houses were burned in Puti village
• Htilin: Resistance fighters seized a Police Station in Kyin Village
• Yesagyo: 4 regime soldiers killed by Resistance fighters

COVID DAILY (as reported by the military-controlled Ministry of Health. Real figures are believed to be higher than officially reported)
• 56 new cases and 0 new deaths
