Most Myanmar citizens are boycotting military-organized celebrations of the Burmese new year (Thingyan). The junta organized several events, forcing government workers and paying civilians to attend them. Despite all its efforts, the difference between pre and post-coup (and Covid) celebrations are impossible to ignore even for the most hardcore military-supporters.

POLITICS, ECONOMY AND OTHER NEWS
• Military spokesperson Zaw Min Tun confirms that Than Than Swe, the deputy governor of Myanmar’s Central Bank, is alive. She was shot at her home by Resistance groups

SAGAING
• Wetlet: the Burmese army raided Ywar Nang village killing 7 civilians and setting over 200 houses on fire
• Kalay: the Resistance launched an attack on the district general administration office in Taungzalap ward reportedly killing at least 5 soldiers
• Kalay: U Phu Toh (66) was killed by a shelling fired by the military on his house in Si village
• Monywa: Resistance fighters attacked a police car, killing one policeman

KARENNI (KAYAH) STATE
• Demoso: heavy fighting in O Kuri village. At least 3 Resistance fighters and several regime troops have been killed

KAREN (KAYIN) STATE
• Butho: regime troops fired heavy artillery at Mae Nyu Village injuring civilians, including children

MAGWAY
• Pauk: regime troops raided and set fire to Thekkey Kyin village

ARAKAN (RAKHINE) STATE
• Myebon Township: fighting broke out between the Arakan Army and the Burmese Army near Wet Khaung village
• Sittwe: 2 muslim headmen have been arrested by regime troops on suspicion of having ties with the Arakan Army
• The Arakan Army released 3 prisoners of war on its 13th Annyversary

YANGON
• Pazundaung Township: a bomb exploded at the Young Men’s Buddhist Association (YMBA) office on Yay Kyaw Road. Originally a part of the anti-colonial movement in Myanmar, it is no considered closed to the military and ultra-nationalist groups like the Ma Ba Tha.
• Bahan: Maung Hein Htet Naing, who was delivering supplies to Bo Sein Man Kwin was shot dead by the military. Maung Tin Tun Aung and Maung Kyi Thar were beaten and arrested

BANGLADESH
• Cox’s Bazar: 2 Rohingya men shot by unknown gunmen

COVID DAILY (as reported by the military-controlled Ministry of Health. Real figures are believed to be higher than officially reported)
• 54 new cases and 0 new deaths
