POLITICS, ECONOMY AND OTHER NEWS
• North Okkalapa: 9 youths from Dawbon and Insein townships were sentenced to death under Section 54 of the Anti-Terrorism Law. Ma Su Wai Hnin, Su Myat Thwe Khaing Min Tun (b) Nay Min; Ko Nyan Hein Htet Ko Htet; Ko Pyae Phyo Thu Ko Sai; Ye Yint Phyo Peter Po; Wai Moe Naing Win Lwin Oo; Than Zaw Wa Tot and Ko Latt.
• The Military regime launched matriculation exams for the 2021-2022 academic year today, with 300,000 participating students. The 2019-2020 exams which were held under the democratic government, saw over 900,000 participating students. Students are boycotting the education system under the military government.
• A new law enacted this month in Myanmar brings the country’s police force under the full control of the military, with expanded powers put in place to help quell resistance to junta rule, according to sources in the country (Source: Radio Free Asia)
• Cherry Htet, Daw Aung San Suu Kyi’s bodyguard, has been sentenced to an additional 2 years of prison for incitement. She was sentenced to 3 years of prison for a Facebook post supporting DASSK.
• Myanmar’s detained leader Daw Aung San Suu Kyi appeared in court in Naypyitaw on Thursday after being kept in quarantine, one of her lawyers told The Irrawaddy. The 76-year-old missed court hearings late last week and on Monday as she was in quarantine after some people at her house tested positive for COVID-19. (Source: The Irrawaddy)
• Myanmar civil workers’ pension age has been increased from 60 to 62
• Real estate prices in Myanmar’s capital have been rising since June last year with demand for luxury homes and land tripling in some areas. • The Kachin National Congress Party (KNC) chairman, Dr. Am Kon La, has been charged under section 505 (a) of the Penal Code
• Ko Daw Lin Oo, a political activist in Dawei, was sentenced to 21 years in prison by the military regime
• Ma Su Mon, a student at Dagon University, was sentenced to 3 years in prison
• Pro-democracy leader Han Zar Myay Mon sentenced to 2 years of prison.

• Matupi: Resistance fighters killed 16 soldiers

SAGAING
• Khin U: the Burmese military set houses in Sha Lwin and Kala Lu villages on fire and killed 3 youths who tried to extinguish the fire

• Inma Htee: Resistance fighters attacked military’s training camp for Pyu Saw Htee, a pro-military militia.

• The Burmese military is restricting the delivery of food and medicine in Karenni State.
• Demoso: the Burmese military fired artillery shells at Dawkuli village

KAREN (KAYIN) STATE
• Kawkareik: 15 soldiers were killed in a clash between the Karen National Liberation Army (KNLA) and the Burmese army near Myo Haung village

MANDALAY
• Meikhtila: Htein Min Khaing of the 88 Generation Peace and Open Society was shot dead by regime soldiers and his family members were arrested

ARAKAN (RAKHINE) STATE
• Thandwe: 3 women Daw Sandar Win; Daw San Cho Theik and Daw Nyein Ei Phyo Kyaw have been sentenced to 10 years of prison with hard labour for supporting the National Unity Government that opposes the military regime

BAGO
• Nyaung Lay Pin: 3 pro-military administrators and a police officer have been killed by a landmine

YANGON
• Dala: due to frequent power outages, residents of Dala are facing water shortages.

MON STATE
• Kyaikto: clashes between the KNLA and regime troops in Moppalin village
