While the Burmese military is preparing for tomorrow’s Armed Forces Day, pro-democracy activists decided not only to boycott the celebrations, but also launched a “Power strike”. Pro-democracy civilians will turn their lights off at 8 pm. Several civilians will be forced to take part in the protests, as the electricity is being cut off everyday for several houses due to the poor conditions of the electrical grid.
For the occasion, the U.S., Canada and the U.K. announced news sanctions against members of the Burmese military. One year ago, during the Armed Forces Day, 136 civilians were killed by regime soldiers for protesting against the military coup.

POLITICS, ECONOMY AND OTHER NEWS
• The United States announced a new round of sanctions against Asia Green Development (AGD, owned by Tay Za, a notorious crony), 2 members of the Burmese military Zaw Hein and Ko Ko Oo, the 66th Light Infantry Division, responsabile for the“Christmas Eve massacre# in Karenni State in which dozens of civlians were brutally killed and burned. Aung Hlaing Oo, Naing Htut Aung and Sit Taing Aung are also included in the new sanctions.
• The United Kingdom announced a new round of sanctions against 2 individuals (Dr Aung Moe Myint, Aung Hlaing Oo) and 3 companies (Dynasty International Company Ltd, Myanmar Chemical and Machinery Company Ltd, and Miya Win International Ltd) responsible for supplying the Myanmar military regime with weapons. General Htun Aung, new head of the Air Force was also sanctioned.
• Canada sanctioned Aung Hlaing Oo, Sit Taing Aung, Aung Moe Myint, and Htun Aung, Myanmar Chemical and Machinery Co. Ltd, Yatanarpon Aviation Support Co. Ltd.
• The ministry of defense of the National Unity Government (NUG, the parallel government that opposes the military regime), members of the Yinmarpin People’s Defense Forces are guilty of killing innocent people on November 26th

• Mindat, Hakha and Matupi: clashes between Resistance fighters and the Burmese army

KAREN (KAYIN) STATE
• According to the Chindwin News Agency, the Karen National Liberation Army (KNLA) shot a Burmese military helicopter. The Burmese military launched an airstrike today
