A Burmese snub-nosed monkey, a critically endangered specie discovered in 2010 in Myanmar

The military regime announced a power outages throughout the country from March 12 to March 18. It’s not clear where this will happen, but some areas could experience a 24-hours blackout. According to the Myanmar’s Ministry of Electricity and Energy (MOEE) the halt is required to complete the Shwe Kan Lwin under-water pipeline. Blackouts, which are very common in Myanmar, increased in frequency and length since the military coup, with some areas experiencing up to 12 hours without electricity on a daily basis. About 40% of Myanmar people have no access to electricity at all.
Unfortunately today new atrocities have been reported. Along with the daily arrests and burned houses, in Pauk (Magway), a woman was raped and killed and her 3-year-old daughter was stabbed to death. Her 11-year-daughter was reportedly abducted together with other 29 civilians. In Depayin (Sagaing), 8 Resistance fighters have been burned by regime troops.

POLITICS, ECONOMY AND OTHER NEWS
• General Mya Tun Oo met commanders of the army in Kale and Monywa during his visit in Sagaing
• Zin Myo Thu (29), a souvenir vendor from Mandalay, has been arrested by the military for transferring 300,000 kyats (160 USD) to a member of the armed Resistance. According to a family friend: “It was me who asked her to transfer the money to my friend. She didn’t even know what it was for” (Source: Myanmar Now)
• A boat carrying more than 100 Rohingya, landed in Aceh, Indonesia.
• “Speaking of the combat capability of the PDF, I can’t help but praise their courage to fight while they have no weapons,” said U Khaing Thukha, the Arakan Army’s (AA) spokesperson
• DVB reports that “People convicted of crimes related to drug and alcohol abuse have been recruited to Burma’s police force”

CHIN STATE
• Falam: 3 houses set on fire by regime troops in Lampar
• Kanpetlet: 6 regime soldiers killed

SAGAING
• Salingyi: regime troops raided and set houses on fire in Htan Taw village
• Tangse: regime troops fired artillery at a refugee camp near North Inn.
• Monywa: regime troops burned houses in Nyaungpinkyi Thantaw
• Depayin: 8 young Resistance fighters have been burned to death by regime troops in Min Swe Hnit village on March 3rd. The news arrived only a few days later due to the internet shutdown in Sagaing

KACHIN STATE
• Nyaung Kone: 7 Resistance fighters have been killed during an attack on military vehicles.
• Shwegu: clashes in Sitha village

SHAN STATE
• Water and food shortage problem for Karenni refugees in Shan State

KARENNI (KAYAH) STATE
• Demoso: clashes between Resistance fighters and regime soldiers in Kyaukse Kan and Thesule villages. An airstrike in Demoso township killed one civilian yesterday.
• Loikaw: the churches of 16 Catholic districts have been closed due to the impossibility to run services. Several churches have been deliberately bombed by the military regime.

KAREN (KAYIN) STATE
• Myawaddy: clashes between the Karen National Liberation Army (KNLA) and regime troops near Lay Kay Kaw
• More than 20,000 civilians have been displaced in Hpa-An since February, due to clashes between the KNLA and the Burmese military

MANDALAY
• Myit Nge: the military regime ordered the demolition of houses and shops it considers “illegal”. Over 80,000 residents will be affected. They have been given only 3 days to evacuate.

MAGWAY
• Pauk: Ma Aye Aye Win (42) was raped and killed by regime soldiers. Her 3-year-old daughter Marati Moe, has been stabbed to death during a raid in Nge Daung Village. 5 Resistance fighters have been burned to death and nearly 30 civilians have been abducted, including 9 children, one of which is Ma Aye Aye Win’s 11-year-old daughter.

ARAKAN (RAKHINE) STATE
• The administration and judiciary in Rakhine State are overseen by the United League of Arakan/Arakan Army (ULA/AA) and up to 3,838 complaints were filed in the ULA/AA courts in 2021, according to an Arakan Army (AA) spokesman. (Source: Mizzima)

BANGLADESH
• Moulvi Zakoria, the alleged chief of the Ulema Council, a council of powerful clerics tied to ARSA, has been arrested by Bangladesh authorities. He is accused of ordering the murder of prominent Rohingya leader Mohib Ullah
