POLITICS, ECONOMY AND OTHER NEWS
• The Foreign Minister of the National Unity Government (NUG) Daw Zin Mar Aung is in Washington D.C. and plans to meet diplomats from the US government and some ASEAN countries. • • • The US-ASEAN summit will last 2 days, and no representative of the Burmese military regime was invited, while Malaysia is pushing for ASEAN to engage with the NUG. Protesters of the Southeast Asian diaspora in the US demonstrated against ASEAN leaders. A demonstrator threw a shoe at Cambodian Prime Minister Hun Sen, who recently said that Burmese activists protesting against him, are contributing the destruction of Myanmar and the killing of innocent people.
• The military regime announced it will start reissuing tourist e-visas starting May 15th, two years after the country was closed due to the Covid Pandemic
• Opening ceremony of the ASEAN games took place in Hanoi, Vietnam.
• Khit Thit Media reports that wives of military members in Naypyidaw, must attend military training
• Military spokesperson Zaw Min Tun, criticized ethnic armed organizations who refused to participate in “peace talks” proposed by coup leader Min Aung Hlaing.
• The Shan State Progress Party (SSPP) and the Restoration Council of Shan State (RCSS) announced they will participate in peace talks proposed by the military regime
• The military ministry of commerce suspended the export of peanuts and sesame from Myawaddy to Thailand to bolster domestic supply

SHAN STATE
• Kutkai: clashes between the Kachin Independence Army (KIA) and regime troops
• Muse: Resistance fighters attacked regime troops on the Lashio-Muse road, reportedly killing several soldiers
• Tatanku, Pinlaung Township: locals told The Shan News, that soldiers of the Pa-O National Organisation/Pa-O National Army (PNO/PNA) destroyed the statue of the Virgin Mary and a church. The PNO wants to take control of the area.

• Loikaw: clashes between regime troops and Resistance fighters

ARAKAN (RAKHINE) STATE
• After banning them for ten years, Sittwe University is beginning to admit Rohingya students

BAGO
• An 8-year-old child was injured by a drone attack launched by the Burmese military
• Htantabin Township: a drunken policemen from the Zayatgyi police station shot and killed 13-year-old Maung Myo Myat Tun
