• During the 75th Union Day, the Kachin Independence Army’s (KIA) chief has urged Myanmar’s shadow National Unity Government (NUG) to commit to implementing the 1947 Panglong Agreement and establishing a federal democracy. (Source: The Irrawaddy)
• 11 ethnic armed organizations attended the 75th Union Day celebration held by the military regime in Naypyidaw. Kachin Independence Army, Chin National Front, Karenni National Progressive Party, Karen National Union, Myanmar National Democratic Alliance Army and Ta’ang National Liberation Army did not attend. The presence of former KNU’s Dooplaya chairman Padoh Saw Shwe Maung confused many, although he currently does not hold any position within the Karen National Union.
• The military ministry of foreign affairs complains about ASEAN’s decision to exclude the junta from the next ASEAN Foreign ministers meeting (16 Feb). According to the military regime there are some countries within ASEAN pushing for unilateral decisions that go against the ASEAN charter.
• According to The Irrawaddy, 10 members of the Myanmar military—including two senior officers and two elite candidates—are receiving practical security training in Japan.
• Japanese drinks giant Kirin said Monday it would withdraw from Myanmar, after a failed bid to disentangle its operations from a joint venture with a junta-owned company after last year’s coup. (Source: The Irrawaddy)
• Thai authorities arrested 246 Burmese migrants and four guides in six border areas across four districts of Kanchanaburi Province in western Thailand (Source: Mizzima)
• Indonesia: at least 67 Rohingya refugees have escaped from a temporary camp in Lhokseumawe City, Aceh, and are believed to have been trafficked to neighboring Malaysia, local officials said. (Source; The Jakarta Post)

• Thantlang: regime soldiers started burning civilian houses again.

KACHIN STATE
• A 4.9 earthquake was felt on Saturday. The epicenter was near Indawgyi lake in Mohnyin District. No significant injury or damage has been reported.
• Myitkyina: regime soldiers shot at a car carrying 6 youths. A girl was killed and one was injured. The youths have been abducted.

• A sergeant from the Kyo Pin Kauk City Police Station was shot dead by Resistance fighters

• Moatpalin and Sutpanu: the rail bridge connecting the two villages has been destroyed by Resistance fighters
