•  Pyae Phyo Aung, a reporter for the Yadanarbon Daily, has been sentenced to 2 years of prison in Sagaing.
•  The Arakanese website Western News has been charged by the military regime for “sowing distrust in the military”. Western News was under the regime’s radar for quite some time already. Its journalists have been forced into hiding since November, when the military raided their office (see November 22nd news)

CHIN STATE
•  Kanpetlet: according to the Chindwin News Agency, a sergeant of the regime’s army, shot dead two colleagues, a Lieutenant Colonel and a captain

SAGAING
•  Striking teachers who joined the Civil Disobedience Movement (CDM) open an independent school to keep teaching to children even these times of war.

SHAN STATE
•  Mong Paw: clashes between the Kachin Independence Army (KIA) and regime soldiers

KACHIN STATE
•  Irrawaddy River: around 50 regime soldiers have been killed by the Kachin Independence Army and the People’s Defence Forces during an attack on military ships.

KARENNI (KAYAH) STATE
•  Loikaw: the military regime launched airstrikes and ground operations against Resistance fighters. The KNDF claims that a regime’s helicopter was shot down, and a fuel tanker destroyed. 30 regime soldiers have been reportedly killed. Battles were reported in the Demoso area as well.
•  Demoso: a sergeant from the 108 Battalion of the Light Infantry Division 66 defected to the local Resistance groups. The 108 Light Infantry Battalion was involved in the Christmas Eve’s massacre in which soldiers killed and burned nearly 40 civilians.

KAREN (KAYIN) STATE
•  Kawkareik: 7 civilians, including 3 women, injured by artillery strikes launched by the military regime

MAGWAY
•  Pakkoku: Resistance fighters attacked a military Defense Equipment Factory in Myaing, and a police station

YANGON
•  4 regime soldiers have been killed, and several have been injured during a series of attacks against military bases in nine different townships, Hlaing Thar Yar, North Okkalapa, Thaketa, Insein, Dawbon, Sanchaung, Htantabin, Thonekhwa, Lanmatar.

COVID DAILY (as reported by the military-controlled Ministry of Health. Real figures are believed to be higher than officially reported)
•  124 new cases and 2 new deaths
