Nobel peace prize Archbishop Desmond Tutu passed away at age 90. He helped ending apartheid in South Africa and is considered an example of morality for many.
in 2017 he famously wrote an open letter to his friend Daw Aung San Suu Kyi, saying: “if the political price for your ascension to the highest office in Myanmar is your silence, he price is surely too steep”. “A country that fails…to protect the dignity and worth of all its people, is not a free country”.

POLITICS, ECONOMY AND OTHER NEWS
•  Journalist/poet Sai Win Aung also known as A Sai K (38, Federal Journal), was killed by regime’s artillery in Karen State. He was covering the conflict between the Karen National Liberation Army (KNLA) and regime troops. Two other journalists were injured

SAGAING
•  Natchaung, Kalay: regime soldiers fired artillery and set civilian houses on fire
•  Monywa: Resistance fighters attacked the 16 Infantry Battalion. No casualties reported.
•  Mraukin, Tantse: regime soldiers set civilian houses on fire

KACHIN STATE
•  Shweku: clashes between the Kachin Independence Army (KIA) + People’s Defence Force (PDF), against regime’s troops

KARENNI (KAYAH) STATE
•  Demoso: Resistance fighters attacked a police station killing 3 policemen. Regime forces responded by burning a nearby house.

KAREN (KAYIN) STATE
•  Kawkareik: the regime launched another airstrike near the Asia highway where clashes between the Karen National Liberation Army (KNLA)+ People’s Defence Force (PDF) and regime troops were taking place. 2 KNLA soldiers were reportedly killed.
•  Dooplaya: fighting broke out during the night between the KNLA and regime soldiers

YANGON
•  Hlaing: explosion at the Thiri Mingalar Market. One civilian was injured.
•  Kunchankone: Resistance fighters attacked a military checkpoint. Number of casualties unknown.
