• Famous Burmese photographer Kyaw Win Hlaing died in an accident this morning, according to BBC. He won several awards, including the Sony World Photo Contest in London. He leaves his wife and 2 sons.
• The military regime appointed former lieutenant colonel U Ohn Maung and former lieutenant colonel U Myo Tun as chairman and vice-chairman of the Myanmar Press Council
• DVB reports that the Kachin Independence Organization (KIO), is planning to return hundreds of acres of land stolen by the Yuzana company during the past 2 decades. Yuzana company has close ties with the military regime.
• The military regime is restricting the usage of motorcycles in Thanlyin, Yangon, one of the few areas in Yangon, where the use of motorbikes was tolerated (they are banned in most of Yangon). The move comes after a security post in Thamine was attacked on May 17th (Sorce: DVB)
• The pro-military Pa-O National Organization (PNO) is forcing male civilians to join the military and is imposing a 15 USD tax to every family for military security
• A civilian from Thandwe, Arakan State, has been sentenced to 10 years of prison for his alleged ties with the armed Resistance (Source: DVB)
CHIN STATE
• Paletwa: clashes between the Arakan Army and regime soldiers have been reported this morning
SAGAING
• Myinmu: 10 civilians including a 5-year-old child, have been abducted by the Burmese military
• Ye U: 2 Pyu Saw Htee members (pro-military militia), have been killed by Resistance fighters in Ponaka village
• Salingyi: Wadadan village set on fire by the Burmese military
• Salingyi: Chit Thein Zaw and Ko Kyaw Nyein, two civilians who were abducted by the Burmese military, were shot dead in Ywar Tha village
KARENNI (KAYAH) STATE
• The Karenni State Consultative Council (KSCC), which is backed by Karenni resistance groups, announced on May 26 that it had pardoned 24 “prisoners” due to “requests from international organizations and on humanitarian considerations” (Source: DVB)
KAREN (KAYIN) STATE
• Hpa-An: 4 people, including a hotel owner accused of raising funds for the Border Guard Defence (BGF, a pro-regime military group), have been killed
MAGWAY
• Htilin: helicopter airstrikes by the Burmese military have been reported
• Yesagyo: 7 regime troops were shot and 3 have been killed while they were shopping near Myaytaw Village
• Pakkoku: Resistance fighters claim to have killed 15 regime troops on May 24th
ARAKAN (RAKHINE) STATE
• Sittwe: several residents had to flee from Wabo village after the arrival of regime troops. The military regime is increasing its presence in the area
• Buthidaung: The Burmese military arrested civilians during search operations apparently related to the Arakan Rohingya Salvation Army (ARSA)
YANGON
• Thanlyin: a policeman was killed by Resistance fighters during an attack on Thapyay Kan Police Station on May 20th
• Zin Moe Phyo and her 10-year-old son were arrested by the Burmese military after they failed to find her husband Myo Ko. The military regime has often arrested relatives of political opponents
MON STATE
• Thaton: the Karen National Liberation Army (KNLA) together with Resistance fighters, attacked police station and an army base
