• DVB reports that “Zaw Min Tun, the Deputy Information Minister of the military regime, revealed at a recent press conference in Naypyidaw that the junta has provided aid to the country’s large financial institutions as many of Burma’s major banks are now at risk of going under.”

• DVB reports that “Only 22 Muslim students from Maungdaw district have been allowed to travel to attend Sittwe University. “Immigration offices gave travel permits for 22 of us on Sunday.” “Muslim students were forbidden to attend in-person university classes since the sectarian riots in 2012./3”. Although the return of (few) Muslim students is a positive sign, major problems for these students remain, including obtaining travel permission to attend classes.
CHIN STATE
• Thantlang: Resistance fighters claim that 6 regime troops have been killed by the Chin Defense Force (CDF) on May 23rd
SAGAING
• More than 10,000 civilians were forced to flee from the townships of Salingyi and Yinmarpin after raids by the Burmese army
• Katha: Resistance fighters attacked 3 military vessels
• Chaung U: clashes have been reported between Resistance fighters and regime soldiers.
• Thantaw village: a Pyu Saw Htee (pro-military militia) leader was reportedly killed by a lightning while raiding the village.
SHAN STATE
• According to the Karenni Nationalities Defense Force (KNDF), at least 30 regime troops and 3 Resistance fighters have been killed during the past ten days in Southern Shan State

• Kyauktaw: 3 regime soldiers have reportedly defected on May 22nd. One of them is a deputy sergeant from the 55 Light Infantry Division, who defected to the Arakan Army
