• An anonymous Myanmar photographer was announced as a 2022 Pulitzer Prize Finalist in Breaking News Photography “For striking images, conducted at great personal risk, of the military coup in Myanmar.”• The National League for Democracy (NLD) claims that 14 of its members have been killed by pro-military militias in the past two weeks. Since the 2021 military coup, 18 members of the NLD have been killed during detention and interrogations by the Burmese army.
• More info about yesterday’s arrest of Daw Nang Lang Kham, daughter of tycoon U Aung Ko Win, owner of KBZ. She was about to board on a flight to Thailand, when airport authorities stopped and questioned her for 2 hours before being let go.
• According to the Karen National Union (KNU), more than 350 regime soldiers and their allies have been killed in the month of April in Karen State.
• According to Chin National Defense Force, 105 regime soldiers have been killed in Chin State in March and April
• Myanmar Now reports that regime authorities have recently been searching for village administrators who support the Arakan Army in Arakan (Rakhine State). 4 days ago Tun Myat Naing, Commander of the Arakan Army, threatened Htin Latt Oo, Commander of the Burmese military based in Rakhine State, warning him to “not cross the line”.
• Nearly 350 import/export companies lost their licenses for failing the new Central Bank regulations that order exporters to credit their earnings to local banks in foreign currency within 45-90 days
• The Lahu Democratic Union (LDU) is among the ethnic armed organizations that rejected the military regime’s proposal of peace talks, joining the Karen National Union (KNU), the Kachin Independence Organization (KIO), the Karenni National Progressive Party (KNPP), the Chin National Front (CNF) and the All Burma Student’s Democratic Front (ABSDF)
• Burma Campaign UK updated its “dirty list”, adding over 50 companies supporting and financing the Burmese military, including 2 American companies, Carlyle Group which is linked to the military’s TV Channel MWD TV, and GP Capital which owns telecommunication towers used by military owned MyTel.
• Dr Thein Lwin has been appointed as the first Principal of Spring Teachers’ Training University, which was founded by teachers who joined the Civil Disobedience Movement against the military regime

• Myitkyina: Dr Am Kone La, chairman of the Kachin National Congress Party (KNC), is under trial for sedition
SHAN STATE
• Two Shan youth activists who were forced by junta troops to transport them in their truck on the Lashio to Muse highway were killed in a roadside ambush by TNLA troops on 4 May 2022. (Source: Mizzima)

• Kyaukse: 2 civilians have been killed by a pro-military group

• Pauk: Than Tun Oo from Htan Pauk Kone village was arrested in February and killed by regime soldiers for allegedly supporting revolutionary groups. His body was not returned to his family

• Phyu Township: Khit Thit Media reports that over 20 trucks of illegal timber are being smuggled every night with the complicity of high ranked members of the Burmese military and the police.
MON STATE
• The military regime is conducting a trial against Mon State Chief Minister Dr Aye Zan for an allegedly election fraud
