POLITICS, ECONOMY AND OTHER NEWS
• Khun Htun Oo, former chairman and one of the founders of the Shan Nationalities League for Democracy (SNLD) died at age 79. Considered as the most prominent Shan politician, he was arrested and jailed by the military regime for 7 years (2005-2012). The death of Khun Htun Oo, comes right after two major losses for the Rohingya and the Karen community. Yesterday the Rohingya community lost Dr. Wakar Uddin, while the Karen community lost the commander of the Brigade 5, Col Htoo Ka Shaw.
• After criticizing the National Unity Government (NUG) its lack of consulting with ethnic groups, the Karenni National Progressive Party (KNPP) announced a plan to form an administration team to bring together all ethnic groups and armed organizations in the region.
• Malaysian Foreign Minister Saifuddin Abdullah, says he informally spoke with members of the National Unity Government (NUG), and calls for ASEAN to officially engage with the Burmese democratic government, as the military regime is clearly not keeping the promises it made when it signer the 2021 5-point consensus in Jakarta, Indonesia
CHIN STATE
• Mindat: heavy clashes between the Resistance and the Burmese army on the Matupi-Mindat Road
• Tedim: Mr Khai Lian Muang (age 15) was reportedly shot while buying groceries, during a clash between Resistance fighters and regime troops. He was then killed by regime soldiers.
SAGAING
• Kalay: a 36-year old father of two, was killed during Myanmar army’s shelling on residential areas
• Myinmu: regime troops burned Kantaw village
MAGWAY
• Yesagyo: regime troops raided and burned Guek Gyi village, forcing civilians to flee
NAYPYIDAW
• Resistance fighters claim to have killed 4 regime soldiers during an attack near a military base in Myanmar’s capital
