Who trusts Min Aung Hlaing calling for Peace talks?
The Burmese military has been calling for ceasefires and peace talks for decades, and never respected them. Ethnic Armed Organizations know this very well. This is an attempt to create divisions among the Resistance and to pretend the junta is seeking peace, while trying to buy some time given the multiple fighting fronts the Burmese military has to deal with.
The fact that Min Aung Hlaing excluded the National Unity Government and its armed wing People’s Defence Forces (PDF), is proof that there is no real intent to find a long lasting solution.
