Journalists in Myanmar keep receiving incredibly harsh sentences for simply reporting what is happening in Myanmar. Outdated laws from the British colonial era, allow the military government to attack anyone at will, especially journalists, activists, opposing politicians, and members or supporters of the Resistance.
There have been reports of young women, including minors, being raped by Burmese soldiers in Sagaing and Magway. Although these reports are not confirmed yet, the Burmese military is very well known for using rape as a weapon. Soldiers are very rarely held accountable for these crimes
Meanwhile Indian and Japanese diplomats are de-facto recognizing the Burmese military regime. It is very sad to see countries that are considered “democracies”, side with this murderous regime.
