One year after the 22222 Strike, Myanmar people are still protesting against the military coup. The time of mass street protests in Myanmar may be over for now, mainly due to the brutality of the military regime, but still thousands of people took it to the streets today, despite the concrete risk of being killed or arrested. Today’s 222222 (02.2.2022) Strikes are even more significant, because they are proof of the strength of the Resistance.

POLITICS, ECONOMY AND OTHER NEWS
• The European Union appoints Igor Driesmans, EU Ambassador to ASEAN, as the EU Special Envoy for Myanmar
• Writers Maung Thar Cho and U Htin Lin Oo, sentenced to 2 and 3 years of prison for incitement

CHIN STATE
• Mindat: regime soldiers raided the Wanma Thu District Hospital, setting it on fire. (Source: VOA Burmese)

SAGAING
• Monywa: regime authorities cracked down on a peaceful protest by ramming a woman on a motorbike, who reportedly suffered of a miscarriage as a consequence of the attack. At least 4 civilians have been arrested.
• Depayin: regime soldiers set several houses on fire in Kyakhat village yesterday
• Yinmarpyin: 6 soldiers killed by Resistance fighters
• Chaing village: 10 regime soldiers killed by Resistance fighters
• Kalay: explosions an gunshot could be hear this evening.

KACHIN STATE
• Putao: airstrikes launched by the military regime

SHAN STATE
• Pekon: 5 regime soldiers killed by Resistance fighters during an attack on a military outpost

KARENNI (KAYAH) STATE
• Funerals for Resistance fighters Ye Lin, Thant Zin Htwe, Htet Lin, Sai Khant Zawn, Maung Pasakalay, Maung Sein Maung were held today
• Demoso: Air Force Captain Zay Thu Aung defected and joined the Resistance

KAREN (KAYIN) STATE
• Hpapun: the Karen National Liberation Army (KNLA) killed 3 soldiers during an attack at a customs office

MANDALAY
• Mogok: the Ta’ang National Liberation Army (TNLA) together with the Mandalay PDF launched an attack on regime soldiers

YANGON
• Several explosions including one near an immigration office at the corner between Pansodan and Mahabandula Road

COVID DAILY (as reported by the military-controlled Ministry of Health. Real figures are believed to be higher than officially reported)
• 3563 new cases and 6 new deaths
