It’s the 74th Chin National Day today. Although this is an important day for Chin people inside and outside of the country, the vast majority of the population refused to celebrate as a sign of protest against the military coup. The Chin armed Resistance is currently fighting against the military regime and Chin State has been one of the strongholds of the Revolution. Thantlang has been the hardest hit town by the military regime. Nearly 1,000 houses have been burned in few months
POLITICS, ECONOMY AND OTHER NEWS
• Philippines’ Foreign Secretary Teodoro Locsin Jr., excludes Myanmar from the Regional Comprehensive Economic Partnership (RPEC), a free trade agreement between 15 countries in the Asia-Pacific Region. New Zealand has also adopted a similar stance.
• The National Unity Government (NUG, the democratic government that opposes the military regime), announced a fiscal system to collect taxes through an online form.
• The military ministry of foreign affairs released a statement complaining about some ASEAN countries suggesting the bloc to engage with the National Unity Government (NUG) to solve the Myanmar crisis. The ministry also blames these ASEAN members for its exclusion from the Regional Comprehensive Economic Partnership (RPEC)
• The United League of Arakan (ULA), released a statement in anticipation of the International Mother Language Day, expressing solidarity with the people of Bangladesh and acknowledging that the Arakan and Bengali cultures and roots are deeply interconnected.
• The All Burma Federation Of Student Union released a statement condemning sexual violence by the military regime on woman-comrades of the ABSFSU
CHIN STATE
• 74th Chin National Day has not been celebrated in Chin State, as a sign of protest against the military coup
• Kanpetlet: clashes between Resistance fighters and regime soldiers. 4 regime soldiers killed.
SAGAING
• Kalay: the remains of the mutilated body of Thein Zaw, a military regime soldier, have been dumped on the road. Nobody claimed responsibility for the crime. 2 regime soldiers have been killed during clashes yesterday
• Kanbalu: an attack on a police station in Chat Thin has caused dozens of deaths on the military side. Meanwhile at least 7 civilians have been reportedly killed.
• Khin U: 5 Resistance fighters killed by regime soldiers in Thayetkan
• Kani: Zaw Khaing Win shot dead by regime soldiers in Chai/Din Pauk village. Houses have been burned in Aing Taung village.
KACHIN STATE
• Hpakant: regime soldiers are conducting house-to-house searches in Kyauk Win
• Putao: fighting between the Kachin Independence Army (+ People’s Defence Force) and regime troops is intensifying in Shengat Bum
SHAN STATE
• Moebye: Resistance fighters report new airstrikes by the military regime. The military regime sent reinforcements. Funerals of 2 young Resistance fighters Maung Do Min, Alzanda, Dominic Niko and Davi have been held today.
KARENNI (KAYAH) STATE
• Resistance fighters seized five boxes of weapons and ammunition air dropped by the military regime
MAGWAY
• Pakkoku: Myo Hlaing was shot dead by regime soldiers while riding the motorbike near the Irrawaddy Bridge
• Laung Shay: clashes between Resistance fighters and regime soldiers have been going on in the past two days
YANGON
• Several explosions in South Dagon, North Dagon and Kamayut
TANINTHARYI
• Pawa: 2 civilians have been reportedly shot dead by the military regime during a raid
