Yangon: Silent Strike on the anniversary of the 2021 attempted military coup

It’s been a long year for those in Myanmar, and it’s impossible for us to truly comprehend what it means to live under a brutal dictatorship. The international community (I am looking at you, UN!) left Burmese people by themselves to fight against a murderous regime. So many feel a helpless and hopeless. Today in Kyaukpataung, not far from Nyaung U-Bagan, a 19-year-old set himself on fire and died a few hours later. He was reportedly frustrated by the continuous blackouts and the feeling that the country jumped back decades after the 2021 military coup.

Today’s Silent Strike, is not about showing to the generals that people oppose their regime. It is also a way to remind to all comrades that the Revolution is not giving up. The resiliency shown today, gives everyone courage to keep fighting.

The Revolution is alive and well.
