• The Karen National Liberation Army’s (KNLA) Brigade 5 claims to have killed 1,364 regime soldiers last year, while suffering 30 deaths and 100 injuries. (Source: The Irrawady)
• According to The Irrawady, over 20 regime soldiers have been killed in Chin and Karenni State in the past two days
• China will start the restoration of Thatbyinnyu Temple, the tallest temple in Bagan. It was damaged during the 2016 earthquake
• The Myanmar’s court of Mandalay rejected Dr. Zaw Myint Maung’s appeal. The NLD’s vice-chairman, who is now 70 years old and affected by leukaemia, was sentenced to 4 years of prison in December.

• ASEAN chairman and Cambodia’s Prime Minister Hun Sen, will not be allowed to meet Daw Aung San Suu Kyi during his visit in Myanmar. Hun Sen, who seems to be trying to legitimize the Burmese military, is causing some controversies within ASEAN, as some other countries would like to isolate the junta at least until some improvements will be made. None of the 5 points consensus agreed in Jakarta has been respected by the military. Resistance groups in Myanmar vow to spoil Hun Sen’s visit.
• Nearly 500 members of the National League for Democracy (NLD) have been arrested last year by the Burmese military

CHIN STATE
• Matupi: the Chin Defence Forces claim to have captured 2 regime soldiers.
SAGAING
• Indaw: a 30 year-old woman, mother of 4, was killed by the regime during an airstrike
• Thokgyian village, Kalaymyo: a woman was seriously injured by artillery shot by the regime.
• Ye-U: Resistance fighters claim that regime troops killed and burned U Maung Myint and U Tin Taung
SHAN STATE
• Namhkam: artillery strikes by regime soldiers injured 6 civilians, including children (two 5 year-old children and a 4 month-old baby) (Source: Kachinwaves). The attack come after Resistance fighters killed 5 regime troops.
KARENNI (KAYAH) STATE
• Demoso: according to the local Resistance group, the military regime only controls 20% of the town.
KAREN (KAYIN) STATE
• Lay Kay Kaw: clashes between the Karen National Liberation Army (KNLA) and regime troops, continue
YANGON
• Dawbon: bomb attacks at a police station and an electricity office
• Mayangone: Myint Zaw Oo, an alleged military informer, has been shot dead
