Despite the recent arrest of dozens of Resistance fighters, and the killing of 5 peaceful protesters, Yangon is not giving up. The banging of pots and pans resumed in these days, and protest chants roar in the streets of Yangon at night, despite the threats of the soldiers. The determination of Myanmar people, after 10 months of brutal repression, is heroic. An it’s not hopeless. Along with the horrific news of violence committed by the regime, there are encouraging signs from the Resistance that keeps challenging the generals through civil disobedience movement, boycott, peaceful protests and armed resistance. It’s clear that the majority of the people is against the military, and the international community should help the people to finally end 7 decades of dictatorship.

• Facebook, now Meta, announced it will remove all pages controlled by companies owned by the Burmese military, including Mytel. The move comes after years of protests from pro-democracy activists, and a few days after lawyers representing Rohingya victims, demanded 200 billion USD compensations for Facebook’s role in amplifying hate speech during the Rohingya genocide in 2017
• According to The Irrawady, an Uzbekistan Airways plane carrying paper for printing bank notes, landed in Yangon yesterday night.
• After 8 years, the EU Embassy in Yangon will stop renting the residence owned by the family of former dictator Ne Win, and will move to a new location.
• U Ohn Win, former Natural Resources and Environmental Conservation Minister, charged with corruption by the regime.
• U Zaw Myint Maung, former Mandalay Region chief minister and vice-chairman of the National League for Democracy (NLD), sentenced to 4 years of prison for incitement and breaching of Covid regulations. He’s facing 5 more charges, including corruption. The NLD member is affected by leukemia.

• Cambodian Prime Minister and current ASEAN chairman Hun Sen, will visit Myanmar in January. He would be the first head of state to meet with the coup leader Min Aung Hlaing. The announcement has drawn criticism, especially after the recent efforts by ASEAN to put pressure on the Burmese junta to return on the “democratic” path.
• The Tatmadaw Information Team on Viber calls yesterday’s burning of 11 civilians by regime troops in Sagaing, “fake news”
SAGAING
• Don Taw, Salingyi: Daw Win Ye, a 65 year-old woman with mental disease found assassinated in the same area where yesterday 11 youths were burned by regime soldiers.
• Depayin: regime forces attacked several villages with heavy artillery and helicopters.
• Ayadaw: Resistance fighters attacked regime soldiers with home-made mortars
• Tangse: Resistance fighters killed 6 regime soldiers with landmines. A video shared by Khit Thit Media shows the village of Kapaung destroyed by the regime.
• Monywa: Resistance fighters killed 3 regime soldiers near a military camp base.
• Sagaing Resistance groups will request proof of tax payment to the National Unity Government (NUG, the parallel government that opposes the regime) to those transporting goods for major companies. It could be a signal that Resistance fighters are confident they are gaining control of the region.
SHAN STATE
• Nampachi , Kuthai: clashes between the Kachin Independence Army (KIA) and regime troops.
• Taungyi: a mother and her son were injured in an explosion at the Ocean Mall
KARENNI (KAYAH) STATE
• Me Salung Mountain, Bawlakhe: the Karenni Army (KA) together with Resistance fighters of the KNDF, attacked regime soldiers killing 7.
KAREN (KAYIN) STATE
• The Karen National Liberation Army (KNLA) in collaboration with Resistance fighters of the People’s Defence Force (PDF), attacked regime troops killing five soldiers.
• Muthe, Kyaukgyi: the Karen National Union (KNU) reports that two minors and a young man were injured by artillery fired by regime troops.
MAGWAY
• Myaing industrial estate: regime troops opened fire on a car for unknown reasons, killing the driver U Htay Maung from Khin She Myuk Su village, Pauk Township.
YANGON
• Landmadaw: NLD member Daw Khin Nay Myo killed by an unidentified gunman
• Resistance groups attacked regime soldiers in various locations, including Mayangone, Hlaing Thar Yar, East Dagon and North Okkalapa, killing several soldiers.
