At least 5 youths have been killed today by regime soldiers, who rammed and opened fire on a group of peaceful protestors in Kyimyindine, Yangon. Videos of the terrorist attack show a vehicle running full speed towards the crowd. Several people have been arrested shortly after, including a red cross nurse who stopped to assist the victims.
The people responded by resuming the pots and pans protests tonight, despite soldiers trying to silence them by shooting.
The people’s response is clear: they will not accept the military rule.
We have seen violent attacks by the regime every single day in these 10 months. Over 1,300 innocent and unarmed people, including children, have been killed for simply opposing the coup, or for no reason at all. But even a documented episode like this one, received very little international coverage.
The right to peacefully express your own political opinion, is a universal right, and should concern us all, regardless of race and nationality. What is happening in Myanmar matters for all of us, because it’s not a power struggle between two opposing parties. It’s a group of criminals who has been committing crimes against humanity for 7 decades.
It’s time to end the regime.
