POLITICS, ECONOMY AND OTHER NEWS
• The expected verdicts on two of the eleven cases against Daw Aung San Suu Kyi have been postponed until Monday. Meanwhile the regime filed two additional corruption charges against the NLD leader.
• Covid: the military regime extends entry restrictions for international travellers until December 31st.
• The military regime threatened to arrest shop owners of Myanmar Plaza Shopping Mall, who ignored a meeting at the Yangon Town Hall, in which authorities pressured the few tenants to reopen their shops. Myanmar activists called for a boycott Myanmar Plaza, after two peaceful protesters were beaten by two guards of the mall. Following the boycott, many shops temporarily closed. While Myanmar Plaza remained almost empty since Friday, plainclothes police were spotted in other shopping centers, likely looking to stop other protests by Yangon activists.
• The chairman of the Union Election Commission (UEC), U Hla Thein is now detained in Naypyidaw Prison. He and other members of the UEC, are accused of irregularities during the 2020 elections that saw the National League for Democracy winning in a landslide.
• The nine young women arrested in Kalay, Sagaing, have been transferred to Mawleih prison.
• Captain Lin Htet Aung of People’s embrace, an organization that supports defecting soldiers, claims that over 8.000 regime troops have already defected. There are still hundreds willing to defect, including some that are currently working in the regime army while reporting precious information to the Resistance.
• DVB reports that Ma Thae Su Naing, a teacher who joined the Civil Disobedience Movement, has been denied medical treatment despite her leg being broken during an interrogation. She is currently under urrest and accused of being a member of the armed Resistance.
SAGAING
• Kane: the military regime dropped propaganda leaflets from helicopters over Kane, an area considered a stronghold of the Resistance. The leaflets blame Resistance groups for the violence in the villages. At the same time the in the leaflets the regime threatens to burn more villages if the civilians don’t stop the Resistance.
SHAN STATE
• The Myanmar National Democratic Alliance Army (MNDAA) claims to have killed 198 regime soldiers since July, while suffering 10 losses
KACHIN STATE
• Mawhan, Mohnyin: U Thein Zaw Win (31) was shot dead by regime soldiers, after his car failed to stop at a checkpoint due to brake failure.
KARENNI (KAYAH) STATE
• Shartaw: clashes between Resistance fighters and regime soldiers
MANDALAY
• Ye Thu Naing, deputy director of the Cooperative Department of Madaya, was found dead 10 days after being arrested by regime authorities. His body was found with his hands tied behind the back.
MAGWAY
• Myaing : 4 regime soldiers killed in a landmine attack
ARAKAN (RAKHINE) STATE
• Sittwe; the Myanmar Navy intercepted a boat with 228 Rohingya on board trying to flee the country. They have been detained by the police.
YANGON
• The funeral of the NLD spokesperson Monywa Aung Shin, who died of a heart attack, a few weeks after being released from prison at 77 years old, was held in Yayway cemetery today.
• Botahtaung Township: a traffic police post was burned by Resistance fighters
