Myanmar Plaza, Yangon: a group of young people staged a peaceful protest calling the public to boycott military-owned public transport like Parami and OmniFocus bus lines. Myanmar Plaza security guards punched and detained two youths, including a girl on the International Day for the Elimination of Violence against Women (the irony…). Online activists called for a boycott of Myanmar Plaza, which is run by Vietnamese company HAGL. Several stores announced their temporary closure to show their solidarity (or to avoid social punishment).
The power of the people shall never be underestimated.
