The last couple of days have been quite depressing, The number of injustices going on in Myanmar and the rest of the world is hard to digest.

Myanmar Now reported that the Interpol invited a Junta delegation to attend its General Assembly in Instabul. The fact that the Interpol legitimizes a genocidal institution is really concerning.
It’s also concerning to learn that oil and gas companies in Myanmar, continue expaning their projects.

POLITICS, ECONOMY AND OTHER NEWS

•       U Phyo Zeya Thaw’s arrest is hard loss for the Resistance. The former rapper and NLD MP, was one of the leaders of the pro-democracy movement in Yangon. As his laptop was seized during the regime’s raid, other activists are now on alert.
•       Cherry Htet, Daw Aung San Suu Kyi’s bodyguard, hit by another charge for breaching police rules. She was previously charged for “incitement” after posting on social media: “We miss you, mother (as Daw Aung San Suu Kyi is often called)”. She could face a maximum penalty of 6 years of imprisonment.
•       A military delegation led by Lt-Gen Than Hlaing, will attend the 89th INTERPOL General Assembly in Istanbul. Than Hlaing, who has been appointed chief of the Myanmar Police right after the coup, and is acting as the regime’s Deputy Home Affairs Minister, is incharge of operations against People’s Defense Forces (PDF) in Sagaing and Magwe regions and Chin State. He is currently blacklisted and sanctioned by the US, UK, Canada and EU for his role in the violent crackdown on peaceful protesters.
•       Arakan Oil Watch reports that foreign oil companies (Chevron, Total, PTTEP and Posco), are expanding their operations in Myanmar despite the coup and calls by activists to stop paying the regime. The now military-controlled Myanmar Oil and Gas Enterprise (MOGE), nets 1 billion USD per year for exporting its gas, and receives 500 million USD worth of natural gas to be used domestically.
•       Japan’s special envoy for national reconciliation in Myanmar, Yohei Sasakawa, reveals that the U.S. Government sought his help negotiating the release of American journalist Danny Fenster, who was released this week after being sentenced to 11 years of imprisonment.
•       Yaw defence force and CDF Mindat report 14 Resistance fighters killed, while the regime lost 10 soldiers.
•       Khit Thit Media reports 133 regime soldiers killed today

CHIN STATE
•       Thantlang: clashes between Resistance fighters of the CNA/CDF and regime soldiers. Resistance fighter Salai Khua Tin Thang died during the battle

SAGAING
•       Ayadaw-Wetlet: regime forces used 20 civilians as human shields to raid the villages.
•       Seesan, Kalay: U Vyat Nay San, a 40 year old farmer, killed by regime soldiers
•       Resistance fighters attacked a convoy carrying the junta’s chief minister of Sagaing Region. The minister seem to have survived the attack.
•       Khin U: 3 Pyu Saw Htee (a pro-military armed group), killed by Resistance fighters

SHAN STATE
•       Monekoe: clashes between the MNDAA and regime soldiers.
•       Moe Bye: the military regime launched a massive operation with around 1.000 soldiers

MANDALAY
•       Thabeikkyin: Zaw Min Aung (40), a high school teacher who joined the Civil Disobedience Movement, was arrested by regime forces on Wednesday afternoon, and declared dead a few hours later in an interrogation center. He was married and had two kids.

MAGWAY
•       Gangaw: Resistance fighters ambushed a police convoy, killing 5 policemen. Regime forces retaliated by raiding nearby villages.
•       Yesagyo: Resistance fighters raided a police post, killing 2 policemen.
•       Kyinlein: airstrikes by the military regime
•       Htilin: clashes between Resistance fighters and regime soldiers. 2 Yaw Defence Force members and 3 regime soldiers killed.
•       Saw Township: heavy clashes between Resistance fighters and regime soldiers, including an airstrike by the regime. The Resistance claims to have killed around 20 soldiers

AYEYARWADY
•       Pathein: Maung Nyan, a Resistance fighter who was wounded and arrested for shooting at a maritime police station, died at a military hospital

YANGON
•       Thingangyun: parcel bomb exploded at the Yangon Region Road Transport Administration Department office. No confirmation on the number of deaths
•       Twantwe: 2 regime soldiers killed during an attack at a Mytel tower.

THANINTHARYI
•       Yay Phyu Township, Dawei: U Kyaw Oo has been shot dead. He was accused of being a military informer

COVID DAILY (as reported by the military-controlled Ministry of Health. Real figures are believed to be higher than officially reported)
•       624 new cases and 11 new deaths
