The regime has launched airstrikes in Kyunhla, Sagaing, after suffering many defeats inflicted by Resistance fighters. It has also used civilians as human shields in Pekhon, Shan State, and regime soldiers have allegedly beaten a 5 year old little girl and a 70 year old woman in Mandalay region.
Reading the Associated Press piece (see link below) on how civilians are being tortured is a painful experience.
The cruelty of this military is unspeakable.
The regime must fall.
POLITICS, ECONOMY AND OTHER NEWS

• The National Unity Government (NUG, the democratic government that opposes the regime), has established a Central Command and Coordination Committee to coordinate military operations against the regime. The committee includes members of some ethnic armed organizations (EAO), but it’s not clear which ones. It seems to be a first concrete attempt towards a federal army.
• The Indian company Adani will withdraw its investment in the Ahlone Port. The project included developing and operating Ahlone International Port Terminal 2, on a land leased land from MEC, the conglomerate controlled by the Burmese military and sanctioned by the U.S., Canada, UK and EU. In March the Australian Centre for International Justice (ACIJ) and Justice for Myanmar (JFM) reported that Adani was paying MEC and had ties with general Min Aung Hlaing. Adani reports that it paid 90 million USD upfront for the lease.
• According to Leong Wai Kit, Myanmar Correspondent for CNA, Cambodia, which will chair ASEAN next year, is planning to not invite coup leader Min Aung Hlaing to the next ASEAN-EU summit in November.
• Philippines president Duterte during the ASEAN summit said that his country is ready to welcome refugees from Burma, including Rohingya.
• Sources confirmed to DVB that the majority of participants to the pro-regime rallies earlier this week, have been paid 5,000-10,000 kyats (2.80 – 5.60 USD). Pro-military manifestations are pretty rare, and even before the coup involved people from poor areas who are paid to partecipate.
• Canadian lobbyist and former arms dealer, Ari Ben-Menashe, who was hired by the Burmese military regime to clean the generals’ image and “explain” the legitimacy of the coup to foreign governments, has been contacted by the Sudanese military that staged a coup this week. Ari Ben-Menashe signed a 6 million USD lobbying contract with Sudan Lt General Dagalo in 2019 and is probably looking to sign a new deal.
• Lao police in the Golden triangle has seized more than 55 million amphetamine tablets and over 1.5 tonnes of crystal methamphetamine, the largest seizure in South East Asian history. Myanmar’s Shan State is the largest producer of synthetic drugs in the world and since the coup the illegal drugs trade seems to have increased.
Schools will reopen on November 1st, except for schools in 46 townships in Magway, Sagaing, Chin State and Karenni State, where conflicts are intensifying.
YANGON
• Hlaing Thar Yar and Thanlyin: squatter settlements are being destroyed by bulldozers. Residents have been forced to sign eviction notices by regime forces.
• Hlaing Thar Yar: mass seizure of motorcycles by the military regime. Motorbikes have been banned in central Yangon since 2003, but have been commonly used to commute in the periphery
MANDALAY
• Chanayethazan Township: the NLD office has been bombed at night during curfew hours. According to residents, regime soldiers went into the building just before the explosions. Various NLD offices have been destroyed recently (Source: The Irrawady)
• Myitnge: regime troops raided a village and tortured civilians, including a 5 year old child and a 70 year old woman, probably for being relatives of a protest leader who is now hiding.
• Seven KBZ banks have been bombed. KBZ is being perceived as close to the military regime. Since the coup, multiple K-Pay accounts (an online payment system owned by KBZ) have been suspended, as many civilians are using the platform to transfer money to Resistance fighters, striking workers or for other donations.
• Pa Thein Gyi: military informant killed
SAGAING
• Kyunhla Township: 2 jet fighters conducted airstrikes against Resistance fighters. Over 100 troops have been sent by helicopter
• Kawlin: according to the Defense Ministry of the National Unity Government (NUG), 40 to 60 soldiers have been killed by Resistance fighters during on Wednesday.
• Myinmu: landmine attack on regime soldiers on the Monywa-Sagaing road
• Wetlet and Shwebo: various properties, including schools, homes and businesses have been appropriated by the military. In September the regime announced that it will seize the land properties of civilians who engage in anti-coup activities
• Wetlet: multiple dead bodies that have been tortured and/or shot, have been found along the Sagaing-Kyauk Myaung Highway
SHAN STATE
• Nampangha village: clashes between Resistance fighters and regime soldiers
• Pekhon: over 10 civilians have been used by the military as human shields
ARAKAN (RAKHINE) STATE
21 Rohingya, including children as young as 6 year old, have been arrested for travelling without documants
MAGWAY
• Myaing: Resistance fighters attacked regime soldiers with landmine
• Chauk: military regime started to cut the electricity off to households who refuse to pay the electricity bill. Many families stopped paying bills to avoid financing the Junta and for financial constraints
AYEYARWADY
• Bo Ka Lay: military informant killed
