The coup in Sudan and the situation in Myanmar have some similarities. We have to remember that the real goal of the Revolution is not to just overthrow Min Aung Hlaing.
No matter who the leader is, as long as the military has political power and can act with impunity, a transition to democracy will never be completed.

The Myanmar/ASEAN saga continues. Despite promising to invita a non-political figure, ASEAN invited Chan Aye who IS a political figure and is obviously a pro-regime representative. But it seems that the regime’s intention is to not send anyone to the summit, unless it’s the general himself, or some other top minister.

POLITICS, ECONOMY AND OTHER NEWS
•  ASEAN invited Chan Aye, the junta’s Permanent Secretary, Ministry of Foreign Affairs
•  The regime’s Ministry of Foreign affairs released a statement informing ASEAN that the regime will not accept any invitation unless Min Aung Hlaing or another minister are invited. The regime will pursue due process under ASEAN charter.
•  U.S. President Joe Biden will attend tomorrow’s US-ASEAN Summit. Burmese coup leader Min Aung Hlaing was not invited by ASEAN to the meeting
•  Deputy commander-in-chief of the Russian Navy Vladimir Kasatonov is in Yangon to attend a conference at the Defense Services Academy in Pyin Oo Lwin
•  Rare pro-regime demonstrations in Naypyidaw, Meiktila, Pyin Oo Lwin and Myitkyina
•  U Kyi Win is the fifth member of Daw Aung San Suu Kyi’s legal team to be barred from speaking to the media, foreign diplomats and international organizations (from The Irrawady)
•  The military regime extended the closure of schools until the end of October

YANGON
•  Mayangone: explosion at the township court
•  North Okkalappa: explosion at Aung Mingalar bus station

MANDALAY
•  Meiktila: bomb attack in front of a police station following a pro-regime rally. Two regime soldiers killed.
•  Madaya: 3 people, probably Resistance fighters, died in an explosion near a toll gate. The cause of the explosion is unclear, but according to Myanmar Now, a resident believes they were trying to set a landmine to attack a military convoy

SAGAING
‘•  Khin U: regime soldiers shot and killed Ko Zaw Min Htun
•  Kyarmingyi village, Sagaing: 1 person killed during an attack led by Resistance fighters
•  Kauk Yiet, Myaung: Resistance fighters killed 2 regime soldiers
•  A teacher who joined the civil disobedience movement was shot and killed by regime forces who were looking for her brother, a pro-democracy activist, but could not locate him.

KAREN (KAYIN) STATE
•  KNU (Karen National Union) and the KNLA (Karen National Liberation Army) claim to have killed 14 regime soldiers in one day in 5 different clashes

CHIN STATE

KARENNI (KAYAH) STATE
•  Demoso: regime soldiers fired artillery on civilian houses
•  Daw Mya Lay, Demoso: regime soldiers shot at Lodmadaw church

SHAN STATE
•  Lashio: two regime bases have been attacked

MAGWAY
•  Two resistance fighters died while planting a landmine

MON STATE
•  Thaton: 5 regime soldiers killed during clashes between KNLA and regime troops
•  Htone Bo Gyi, Thathone: Resistance fighters and KNU attacked and killed a regime officer and his wife. The regime fired artillery on civilian houses the day before

AYEYARWADY
•  Kan Gyi Daung: 3 soldiers killed and 2 injured in a bomb attack One of the assailants was shot and killed.
•  Kan Gyi Daung: regime soldiers are extorting the equivalent of 150 USD from every village, according to some local administrators

COVID DAILY (real numbers are believed to be much higher than officially reported)
•  711 new cases and 22 new deaths
